An 8-piece from North Mississippi whose album was produced by Matt Patton of Drive By Truckers at his studio, Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, Mississippi which truly cuts it with raw, southern sounds from beginning to end. As they say themselves, this is 'Americana Rock Blues' – I can't argue with that!

 

Highlights included the opening 'Train Song'; 'Wrong Side' about Uncle Joe who was arrested for a shooting because no-one else was around; the gutsy blues groove of 'Hell Pine Holler' with both male and female vocals and the southern belle fronted 'Zodie' – now that's some voice right there! It finishes on the beautiful Hammond backed title track 'Shine' – epic!

 

Imagine the Quireboys born in the South - outstanding!
