Laurenne/Louhimo - Falling Through Stars

(Frontiers Music SRL – 2025)

(Genre: Hard Rock)

Frontiers have brought together two Finnish female powerhouse vocalists for ‘Falling Through Stars’. Netta Laurenne & Noora Louhimo were unfamiliar names to me, I will confess.

After hearing this collaboration I am glad to say that is now no longer the case. Laurenne (Smackbound) and Louhimo (Battle Beast) have left their collective mark on this listeners musical landscape. Backed up by some very talented musicians the star duo have produced an impressive album.

‘Falling Through Stars’ opens the album and the Title track offers a solid energetic start. The interchanging vocals from the female duo immediately highlights the chemistry the pair have with each other. A nice bass line and guitar intro kicks off ‘Damned’. It is a catchy rocker that enthusiastically plays through its 4 minutes. Laurenne and Louhimo play off each other well creating a nice melody in the chorus.

‘To The Dark’ delivers fist pumping energy, the guitar work shines here. The driving drumbeat maintains the songs dynamic power throughout. The acoustic lead ballad ‘All For Sale’ is well placed, giving the album a momentary breather from its full throttle opening. Laurenne and Louhimo get to showcase their beautiful vocal ranges.

Track 5 is the mid-tempo rocker ‘The Cradle’. It doesn’t quite manage to reignite the album after the previous ballad but is by no means a poor song. ‘Rotten Gold’ gets the album back in full swing with its keyboard infused, bluesy style. The track has an infectious swagger to it, helped by some great guitar licks.

‘FTS’ offers more strong vocal work, leaning into Lzzy Hale territory at times. More impressive guitar and drum work gives the song real dynamism. The at time Metallica circa black album style of ‘Let The Light Be Free’ shines a light on these two female powerhouse vocalists. I will be diving deeper into their collective discographies after hearing this album!

Another well placed ballad in ‘Loud and Clear’ allows Laurenne & Louhimo another opportunity to really show the depth of their vocal abilities. The 80’s sounding ‘Wait’ transports the listener back to 1987 with its power riffs and nostalgic aura. It delivers on this in all the best ways and I can’t ‘Wait’ for this album to released.

Netta Laurenne & Noora Louhimo have cemented their place in my personal music collection on the strength of this release. ‘David Bowie & Clyde’ is a song full of charm but is a slightly underwhelming finish to the album. It feels like a bonus track instead of the natural closer to proceedings.

Clocking in at just under 45 minutes ‘Falling Through Stars’ flies by and is the ideal length to have you reaching for the play button again once it has finished. This is a good album that established Battle Beast and Smackbound fans, as well as new listeners will be certain to enjoy.
