Ginevra - Beyond Tomorrow
(Frontiers Music SRL – 2025)

(Genre: Melodic Hard Rock)
Swedish supergroup, Ginevra are back with their sophomore release ‘Beyond Tomorrow’. Kristian Fyhr, (Vocals - Seventh Crystal) Magnus Karlsson, (Guitars - The Ferrymen/Primal Fear), Jimmy Johansson (Bass - HEAT) and Magnus Ulfstedt (Drums - Nordic Union) unite for this melodic hard rock effort.
The talent on hand suggests this should be strong album of eleven songs. ‘Moonlight’ opens the album and Kristian Fyhr’s vocal along with Magnus Karlsson guitar work, make it a decent start to proceedings.
‘Lightning Roses’ follows with Karlsson showing his guitar prowess on this mid-tempo track. Magnus Ulfstedt puts out a strong display of drums too. ‘True North’ has a similar pacing to the previous track, so the album falters in its early attempt to really build momentum.
Karlsson does provide more flair on the fretboard though. ‘Let Freedom Ring’ kicks things up a gear or two. Ulfstedt and Karlsson are in fine form, while Fyhr delivers his best vocal thus far on the album.
Track 5 slows the pace again with the power ballad ‘Echoes of the Lonely’. Despite Fyhr’s strong vocal and some typically impressive flashes of guitar class from Karlsson, it is my least favourite song so far. ‘Beat the Devil’ offers more catchy hooks and its purposeful rhythmic power delivers another solid track.
Karlsson’s guitar work cuts like a katana sword in ‘Samurai’ as the album begins to find its flow. The rhythmic power from Ulfstedt and Johansson does the heavy lifting in ‘Arms of Oblivion’. The chugging riff and solo from Karlsson keeps the albums midway form heading in the right direction.
The album and the group is really in its full groove now, as ‘Wild Ones’ provides more fine work collectively. More chugging rhythm, guitar gold and stellar drumming keeps taking the album ‘Higher’. Fyhr delivers one of the best vocal tracks on the album and Karlsson’s melodic solo is on point.
‘Enemy of your Destiny’ ends things with perhaps the weakest song on offer. It still has its redeeming moments but falls flat after the strength of the previous few tracks. Ginevra have delivered a strong follow up to their debut ‘We Belong To The Stars’.
The Swedes seem to have a penchant for all things melodic rock. These four men have pooled together from their individual bands to form something that fans of those groups will certainly enjoy!
