Blitz – Kicking Up A Storm
(Shock Records – 2024)
(Style: Rock)
This 3-piece band from Nottingham will soon be ‘Kicking Up A Storm’ if this album is anything to go by. Together Stuart Corden (Bass/Lead Vocals), Kevin Simpson (Guitars/Backing Vocals) and Mat Davis (Drums/Backing Vocals) have delivered a raucous high-powered AC/DC fuelled album with blitztering guitar and vocals.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the effectiveness of the ballad ‘I’ll Remember You In Yesterday’ which is reminiscent of Skid Row. Blitz are far from a one trick pony, drawing from likes of Van Halen as well.
It really ticks all the required boxes and so much more. The rhythm has a dynamic fury which nails down the beat with energy and power.

The album is complete with great hooks and memorable choruses, ‘We are The Power’ being a pulsating example of this. These Nottinghamshire lads know their stuff and this album should get them much acclaim. ‘Addicted To Corruption’ is a statement of intent and possibly the heaviest track on the album, it has a great title and sends a message to those who spread fake news, lie and spread corruption everywhere you look.
‘Freddie Said’ has more hooks and melodies as he yearns for her to ‘give me tonight’. My review may be short. but it’s to the point and it’s leaves you ‘Shell Shocked’! I haven’t even mentioned ‘We Are The Power’ which kicks off with drums and will surely be a singalong fan favourite. Together us ROCK fans stand, because we are the power!
A final pointer about this record is anyone familiar with Ricky Warwick will love this as they create an ‘Almighty’ racket and I mean that as a compliment.
